Walgreens Trip 11/27 - Saved 92%!

Walgreens has some great deals this week that I mentioned in this previous post.  So I stayed up late last night to plan my attack and went in to Walgreen's with Eila.  I planned a total of 5 transactions with minimal out of pocket (OOP).  I did have Register Rewards (RR) to use that I earned yesterday and the day before.  In the end I paid $11.16 and saved $113.34!  Yes, I know the savings is off of Walgreen's regular prices so it is alot compared to other stores, but that's 90% off!

Here's what I picked up:
3 Soft Lips Pearl on sale for $2 each
3 Walgreens Cold Sore Treatment $7.99 each
4 Glide Floss on sale for 2/$6 (I bought these for my Dad.  With coupon I paid $2.25 each.)
3 Mission Max Muscle Cream on sale for $5.99 each
9 Ajax Cleaners with Walgreens store Coupon $0.49 each
1 Beanie Baby (This was what Eila wanted to spend her allowance on!) $4.99

I totally forgot about the Pantene on sale so I'm going to head back in a couple of days.

I bought so many Ajax because I used that as a 'filler' item.  A 'filler' item is an item that you don't have a manufacturers coupon for and is cheap.  Good fillers are pencils, kids holiday cups, clearance items, cheap candy or whatever else you can find.  This week there are a couple of good fillers.  The Ajax is one (you'll need the coupon from page 8 to make it $0.49 each) and the Russell Stover Holiday Candy (Page 1 coupon to make them $0.29)  If you can find the Betty Crocker Muffin mix or the Corn Bread mix and use the coupon on page 3 to make them $0.33 each, that would be a good filler too.  My Walgreens doesn't carry those items so I chose the Ajax because I have too much candy around the house already.  ;)

When I go into Walgreens, I make a list of each transaction that says everything I'm picking up, the coupons I'm going to use, about how much I'll pay and the RR that I'll receive at the end of the Transaction.

Here's what one of my lists looked like today:

Since I took the picture after my shopping trip, you don't see that I stapled the coupons I used for each transaction next to the transaction to make it easy to find everything.  Some people like to use envelopes for each transaction and write everything on the front.

So if you want to try shopping Walgreens this week, this is what I would do (You may want to try a different Walgreens than the one at 128th and Zuni, they were getting low on a couple of the items.):

Transaction #1
1 Mission Max Muscle Cream Rehab $5.99
1 Soft Lips Pearl $2
Pay $7.99, get a $6 RR  for the Muscle Rehab and a $2 RR for the Soft Lips Pearl

Transaction #2
1 Walgreens Cold Sore Treatment $7.99
1 Ajax Cleanser $0.99
-$0.50 Use Walgreens Store Coupon for Ajax (page 8)
-$6.00 Use $6 RR from the previous transaction #1
-$2.00 Use $2 RR from the previous transaction #1
Pay $0.48 + tax, get $8 RR for the Cold Sore Treatment

Transaction #3
1 Mission Foot Rehab Cream (or Max Muscle Rehab) $5.99
1 Soft Lips Pearl $2
2 Ajax Cleanser $0.99 each = $1.98
- $0.98 Use Walgreens Store Coupon for Ajax (page 8)
- $8 RR from the Previous Transaction  #2
Pay $0.99 + tax, get $6 RR for the Mission Product and $2 for the Soft Lips Pearl

Then you could go back and forth between Transaction #2 and Transaction #3 to get even more!  But if you stick with the 3 transactions, you'll spend a total of $9.46 + tax and you'll have a $6 RR and a $2 RR to use on your next shopping trip! Not too bad!

Let me know if you try shopping Walgreens and how you did!  I'll be happy to answer any questions, just leave a comment!

RR = Register Reward
OOP= Out of Pocket
Edit:  I double checked and I did pick up the Mission Max Muscle Rehab not the Cream
